The University of Worcester (Worcester, UK) in partnership with the Lithuanian Sports University – LSU (Kaunas, Lithuania) has launched the Master’s degree (MSc) programme in International Basketball Coaching and Management. Significantly, the course is endorsed by the Lithuanian Basketball Federation (LBF) and by the Federation for International Basketball in Europe (FIBA Europe). The course will be based on the strategic advantage of combining the two institutions and countries strengths both in the basketball field and in affiliated areas.
OBJECTIVES
This course provides students with a unique opportunity to combine studies with elite sports activities, and enables current practitioners to develop their conceptual and theoretical understanding in the field of Basketball Coaching Science and management. It will be of interest to coaches, senior players, coach educators and students throughout Europe who have an interest in developing the game and players.

COMPETENCES
Practical skills in a range of scientific disciplines will be further developed in order to enhance the coaching process, and the graduate will be able to critically reflect upon contemporary principles and practices in basketball coaching. The course offers an exchange of methods of basketball practice that exists throughout Europe and provides students with fundamental theoretical knowledge and research skills.
Learning will be structured around small group seminars led by tutors who introduce a wealth of advanced and applied material. Sessions will encourage a student to participate fully and to share knowledge and experiences. Students will be encouraged to develop critical, reflective and analytical skills in an environment of open debate and discussion.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
It is envisaged that upon completion of the Masters programme, students may continue in academia to study for further research/higher degrees, secure employment or have opportunities to gain promotion within their own organization or move to a more senior management position in other organizations.
