Overview
Master in Social Work programme was launched in 1992 with support of professors from USA and Canada. Since that time the programme is constantly being improved in cooperation with foreign partners from different European universities and continuing collaboration with USA. Two courses in the programme are being taught via videoconferencing together with prof. dr. Katherine Tyson McCrea from Chicago Loyola University. Constructionist mindset, qualitative research methodology and special focus to advanced generalist social work practice are key stones of the programme. Teaching staff’s competencies in group social work, supervision in social work, family social work provides the programme exceptional framework. Since 2012–2013 academic year programme is taught entirely in English.

Competencies acquired
Graduates of the programme are competent to apply critical thinking, augmented by creativity and curiosity, to inform and communicate professional judgments; to understand that as a consequence of diversity, a person's life experiences may include oppression, poverty, marginalization, and alienation as well as privilege, power, and acclaim; to incorporate social justice practices in organizations, institutions, and society to ensure that basic human rights are distributed equitably; to comprehend quantitative and qualitative research and understand scientific and ethical approaches to building social work knowledge from local and global perspective.
